Beginning is 1876, the Shultz Brick Factory located in Kingston, NY produced nearly 20 milliom bricks per year to fuel the growing metropolis of New York City to the south. Located 95 miles north of Manhattan through the Hudson Valley, this site epitmozes the r/urban condition during this time: create material to serve the needs of the city.
Overtime this site was coverted into a concrete factory, as time passed and atlernative building materials gained traction. The Hudson Cement Factory operated in the ruins of the great brick empire and grew into the foundation of the Statue of Liberty. Abandoned today, this site has been identified as suitable for a rail-to-trail revitalization.
